Online Security
Veritex Online Banking
We work hard to secure your personal information when you use Veritex Online Banking. We want you to feel confident when you bank online and have put many security systems in place to protect your personal and account information. For your protection we have the following systems in place:
Vigilant System-wide Monitoring
Veritex Community Bank uses multiple monitoring systems to detect suspicious and fraudulent activity. These systems watch for unusual patterns of activity, such as incorrect password usage. If such activity is detected, the user may be "locked out" and unable to access Veritex Online Banking.
Firewalls and Data Protection
Firewalls act as a shield between the internet and Veritex Community Bank's internal systems. Veritex uses these digital barriers to help ensure that all internal information is secure. All activity within Online Banking, from when you sign-on, access account information to when you sign-off, are monitored and recorded. This allows for quick identification of any suspicious online banking activity.
Data Encryption
When you use Veritex Online Banking and VeriPay, our system encrypts all of your information making it unreadable to outside viewers, especially during transmission. For your security and ours, Veritex Community Bank uses robust, industry-standard encryption protocols.
Veritex maintains a high level of commitment to monitor suspicious activity. Veritex Online Banking customers have limited liability for unauthorized use of their account if they report it in a timely manner.
Email Scams
Scams come in many forms, such “phishing” emails, fraudulent text messages and phone calls. These all have the same goal – the unauthorized use of your information.
It is very important for you to know that Veritex Community Bank will NEVER ask you to send your account information over Email. Don’t reply to emails that ask for your account information. Don’t give your account information to phone solicitors or provide your credit or debit card number online. Veritex will never call or email you for that information - we already have it.
Banks across the United States and The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) have reported several e-mails scams that appear very realistic. These emails often contain logos and verbiage that are designed to convince you that they are from a bank or the government. These emails can contain hyperlinks and/or infected attachments. They are designed to automatically collect personal or confidential information, or to load virus software onto your computers.
- Veritex Community Bank will NEVER ask you to send your account information over Email.
- The FDIC does not directly contact consumers, nor do they request bank customers to install software upgrades.
- Phishing emails often appear with spelling and grammatical errors and include a variety of scenarios like “ACH and WIRE transactions being temporarily suspended for security reasons or until certain software can be installed or updated” or “Reports of counterfeit cashier’s checks in circulation bearing the name of a well known bank, credit union, and other financial institution.”
- The people who want to steal your information don’t easily give up. These fraudulent e-mails may be modified over time with other subject lines, sender names, and narratives.
What to do if you receive a fraudulent email:
- NEVER click on a link provided within the body of the e-mail or attempt to open the attached file.
- NEVER provide any personal information through this media.
- If you clicked the link or attached file and are not sure your computer is safe, immediately shut it down and contact your computer professional to scan for and/or remove this malware.
